the most frequently visited tourist attraction in Upper Orava. The reservoir has an area of 35 km2, which makes it the largest artificial lake in Slovakia. Its construction required the flooding of five villages with only a hill near the village of Slanica remaining above the surface as Slanica Island. The lake offers very good conditions for windsurfing and yachting enthusiasts, water skiers and divers. Other devotees of sun and water can hire rowing boats or pedal boats, or ride in a motor boat.
