The ridge of this mountain divides Upper from Lower Orava. The highest points are Minčol (1396 m), a meadowy peak with a large metal double cross at the summit, and Kubínska Hoľa (1346 m) which directly overlooks the town of Dolný Kubín and also has a ski resort. Despite extensive logging, the northern part remains densely forested. The forests distort the terrain and at first glance it is hard to spot small ridges and ravines. The Orava Magura has short and not very deep valleys.
